NEW PALTZ, NY – The Rowan University volleyball team split a pair of matches in the Hudson Valley Quad Match, winning against Bard College, 3-0 and falling to Morrisville State College, 3-2.
Rowan won its first contest on the day against Bard, 25-16, 25-8 and 25-14. The Profs were led by outside hitter
Megan Jacobi (jr. Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) with eight kills on a .263 hitting percentage, followed by opposite hitter
Kailey Gallagher (jr. Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) adding five. Setter
Tori Mock (so. Chadds Ford, PA/Archmere Academy (PA)) and setter
Alaina Santacroce (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) paced the offense with 14 assists each.
Defensive specialist
Kristin Akin (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Mock led the defense with eight digs each, followed by outside hitter
Erin Keegan (sr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex Reg.) with six.
For Bard, opposite hitter Maracela Talamantes (jr. San Diego, CA/School of International Studies) had a team-high five kills.
The Profs fell in their second match in a five-set thriller to Morrisville State, 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-9, 15-11).
The Brown and Gold is now 15-13 on the year.
The Rowan volleyball team hosts New Jersey City University on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
