SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University men's swim team swept a tri-meet on Saturday. The Profs won against Stevens Institute of Technology, 170.5-90.5 and host Swarthmore College, 180.5-80.5.
Rowan (7-1) was the winner in the 400 medley (3:30.67) and the 200 free relay came in second (1:27.25). The medley relay consisted of
Dan Lawton (jr. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury),
Matt Grubb (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Oliver Cruz (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Franklin) and
Eric Feuerstein (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). The free relay included Feuerstein,
Jake Kayati (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown),
Nate Wojtowicz (jr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and
Dylan Regan (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.).
John Tepper (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Atlantic County Institute of Tech.) took first place in the 500 (4:46.01) and 1000 (9:50.51) freestyles. Feuerstein captured first place in the 200 (1:45.87) and 100 (47.24) free.
Youssef Elshenawy (fr. Bayonne, NJ/Saint Peter's Prep.) won the 200 butterfly (1:56.06) and 400 individual medley (4:22.06).
Grubb came in first (58.63) in the 100 breaststroke and second (2:15.01) in the 200 breaststroke. Regan claimed first place (21.86) in the 50 free and Wojtowicz was third (21.93). Kayati was the winner (52.21) in the 100 butterfly and he had a fourth place (2:01.60) in the 200 butterfly.
Lawton finished first (1:58.58) in the 200 backstroke and he was second (53.32) in the 100 backstroke.
Kyle Printon (fr. Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) took second in the 200 free (1:46.89) and 400 individual medley (4:22.41). Cruz finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.45) and 100 butterfly (52.70).
In the 200 backstroke,
Steven Nguyen (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) came in third (2:02.90) and
Matt Smits (fr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) followed fourth (2:03.37).
Nick Marte (sr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) had a third place (53.06) in the 100 butterfly.
Cam Sexauer (jr. Pittsburgh, PA/Mount Lebanon) finished fourth (10:21.60) in the 1000 freestyle and sixth (5:01.69) in the 500.
Marc Gernhardt (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) tied for fourth (48.90) in the 100 freestyle.
Matt Schillaci (so. Sicklerville, NJ/Glassboro) took fifth (4:25.72) in the 400 individual medley.
Rowan is on the road again next week at conference opponent The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
