Box Score 2 ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Rowan University women's volleyball team had a 3-0 loss to the host Eagles but bounced back to defeat Messiah College, 3-1 at the Eastern University Invitational on Saturday.
The Profs are 9-9 on the season. The Eagles have an 11-8 record and the Falcons are 6-11 overall.
The set scores versus Messiah were 30-28, 25-20, 19-25 and 25-20. Outside hitters
Megan Jacobi (so. Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) and
Taylor Modica (fr. Newark, DE/Appoquinimink) and outside hitter/opposite
Kailey Gallagher (so. Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) recorded 17, 16 and 15 kills respectively. Opposite
Maura Francis (so. Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) followed with nine kills. Setter
Katelyn Paxson (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) totaled 34 assists and setter
Tori Mock (fr. Chadds Ford, PA/Archmere Academy (DE)) added 19. Defensive specialist/libero
Amy Staiber (so. Morton, PA/Ridley) produced 15 digs and middle hitter
Erin Keegan (jr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) had 10.
Falcons' middle hitter Mary Underman (so. Finksburg, MD/Carroll Christian School) posted 15 kills and outside hitter Lanae Hunsberger (so. Telford, PA/Christopher Dock Mennonite) registered 10. Setter Jennifer Rusling (sr. Palmyra, PA/Homeschool) tallied 47 assists. Defensive specialist/libero Amanda Dahlman (fr. Cedarburg, WI/Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and Rusling recorded 13 and 11 digs respectively.
The set scores against Eastern were 25-19, 26-24 and 25-14. Outside hitter Caroline Shelby (fr. Lititz, PA/Manheim Twp.) led the Eagles with 14 kills. Outside hitter Ally Spillane (fr. San Pedro, CA/Mary Star of the Sea) produced 12 kills and three service aces. Setter Morgan Kline (so. Millersville, MD/Severna Park) amassed 39 assists. Defensive specialist Miranda Kauffman (sr. Christiana, PA/Octorara) contributed with 15 digs.
Jacobi paced Rowan with nine kills while Modica and Gallagher registered six apiece. Paxson and Mock totaled 18 and 12 assists respectively. Staiber had eight digs and Keegan added six.
Next, the Profs host conference opponent Montclair State University on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
