Box Score UNION, NJ – The 20^th-ranked Rowan University men's soccer team picked up a 6-1 victory at Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
 
It was the fifth win in a row for the Profs, who are 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Cougars have a 4-5-1 record with a 0-4 NJAC mark.
 
Rowan scored five goals in the first half and one after the intermission. Forward Shane Doherty (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) tallied two goals, increasing his point streak to eight games. Forward Zack Sakena (jr. Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) recorded one goal and one assist. Forward Alex Nicol (fr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell), midfielder Kevin Primich (so. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) and back Nick Schlageter (so. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) each hit the net one time.
 
Midfielder Kevin Pereira (jr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) and backs Matt Fahey (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Ryan Logar (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) registered one assist apiece.
 
Back Russell Hoffer (fr. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) had the goal for Kean at 29:45 with an assist from back Alex Noriega (sr. Somerville, NJ/Somerville).
 
Goalkeeper Erik Checkur (jr. Wantage, NJ/High Point Reg.) made three saves in 77:29 to earn his sixth victory. Goalie Kyle Dennis (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) stopped one shot in 12:31 of action. Cougars' goalkeeper Manuel Steven Ortiz Ruiz (fr. Roselle, NJ/Linden) had five saves in the first half. Goalie Derek Phells (jr. Avenel, NJ/Colonia) played the second half and stopped two shots.
 
The Profs visit Muhlenberg College on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
