Box Score 2 HAVERFORD, PA – The Rowan University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the Haverford College Invitational on Saturday.
The Profs fell to Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-15). The host Fords defeated Rowan by a 3-1 score (16-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-20).
Stevens' middle blocker Sara Hain (so. Roseville, MN/Roseville Area) led the Ducks with 12 kills and three blocks. Outside hitter Taleen Mitchell (so. Los Angeles, CA/South Pasadena) totaled 10 kills, 13 digs and four service aces. Setter Julie Greco (so. Thornwood, NY/Maria Regina) amassed 38 assists. Libero Sydni Horner (sr. Columbia, MD/River Hill) and libero/defensive specialist Jillian Roumbanis (fr. San Francisco, CA/Sacred Heart Cathedral) contributed with 26 and 12 digs respectively.

Kailey Gallagher (so. Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) registered eight kills and four blocks. Outside hitter
Megan Jacobi (so. Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) recorded seven kills. Setter
Katelyn Paxson (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) chipped in with 17 assists and 11 digs. Defensive specialist/libero
Amy Staiber (so. Morton, PA/Ridley) had 12 digs and middle hitter/opposite
Gina Kisley (sr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) added five blocks.
For Haverford, outside hitter Natalie Pisch (jr. Blue Bell, PA/Gwynedd Mercy Academy) led the way with 15 kills and 23 digs. Outside hitter Claire Nicholas (fr. Avon, CT/Northwest Catholic) contributed with 14 kills, 11 digs and four service aces. Setter Zoe Wong (sr. San Mateo, CA/Saint Ignatius College Preparatory) chipped in with 33 assists and eight kills. Outside hitter/defensive specialist Sara Matsumara (so. Salt Lake City, UT/Rowland Hall) totaled 22 digs and middle hitter Julia Gallagher-Teske (so. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks E.) had seven blocks.
Gallagher led Rowan with 11 kills. Middle hitter/opposite
Jamie Shirtz (jr. Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) and Jacobi tallied nine kills apiece. Paxson produced 16 assists while setter
Mary-Grace Testa (sr. Kearny, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) recorded 11. Staiber, middle hitter
Erin Keegan (jr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) and outside hitter/right side
Kristin Akin (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) registered 17, 14 and 10 digs respectively.
The Profs conclude the tournament with two matches on Sunday, Sept. 3. They face John Carroll University at noon and Eastern University at 2 p.m.
