Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team shut out Hood College, 5-0 on Wednesday night.
Five different players each contributed with a goal. Forward
Ryan Campbell (jr. Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) produced one goal and one assist. Forward
Shane Doherty (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) and backs
Will Sjaastad (jr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown),
Matt Fahey (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and
Brian Dziobak (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) all hit the net one time.
Midfielders
Jake Connors (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan),
Tyler Logar (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and
Kevin Pereira (jr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) and back
Justin Curtin (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and forward
Travis Ward (sr. New Egypt, NJ/Egypt) each registered an assist.
Goalkeeper
Kyle Dennis (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) made two saves for his third shutout on the season. For the Blazers, goalie Danny Castillo (so. Puerto Cortes, Honduras/Meade (MD)) made seven saves. Rowan (5-1) compiled 26 shots while Hood (3-3) had five. This week, the Profs are ranked fourth in the South Atlantic Region and 24
th in the nation.
Doherty started the scoring at 23:34. He hit the left corner of the net from the right side after a pass from Logar. Five minutes later, Sjaastad blasted a shot to the top right corner on a feed by Campbell. Dziobak headed in the third marker (33:38) with assists from Ward and Connors on a corner kick. Campbell took a long pass up the right side of the field from Curtin and beat Hood's goalkeeper at 46:47. Fahey scored the final goal (78:49) with a header on Pereira's corner kick.
Rowan is home again on Friday, Sept. 15 against Messiah College and on Saturday, Sept. 16 versus conference opponent New Jersey City University. Both games are at 7 p.m.
