Box Score 2 MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University softball team lost 5-1 and 7-5 at Ramapo College on Saturday. It was the last doubleheader of the regular season.
Rowan (31-7) is the fourth seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament and travels to number three Kean University (29-7) on Tuesday, May 2 for the first round at 4 p.m. The Profs finished with a 12-6 conference mark. Ramapo (27-7) is the top seed in the NJAC tournament. The Roadrunners had a 17-1 NJAC record. The remainder of the conference championship tournament will be held at Kean University on Friday-Sunday, May 5-7.
In the first game, right-hander Erin Fitzsimmons (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) was the winning pitcher. She (11-3) only gave up one run on five hits. Righty

Catcher Shannon Cox (jr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) collected three hits in four at bats and one RBI. Third baseman Harper Patsko (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) contributed with two hits, two RBIs and a home run. Center fielder Jackie Howarth (fr. Wall, NJ/Wall) scored two runs and had two hits. Designated player Kristen Ruggiero (fr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) registered one RBI.
For the Profs, shortstop
Carly Anderson (so. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) was three for three at the plate with two doubles and one run. Catcher
Nicole Paiotti (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) registered two hits in three at bats and one RBI.
In the first inning, Anderson doubled to center field and she came home on Paiotti's base hit. Ramapo took the lead 2-1 in the bottom half. Patsko recorded a two run homer to left field. The Roadrunners added one run in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
In the nightcap, Cox recorded a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh for the victory. Left fielder Grace Brennan (sr. Old Bridge, NJ/Academy for Allied Health & Biomedical Sciences) totaled two hits (three at bats), two RBIs and a home run. Patsko and Howarth each chipped in with two hits.
First baseman Nicole Mahoney (sr. Ringwood, NJ/Lakeland) scored two times while second baseman Ally Spellman (jr. Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) and shortstop Nicole Hernandez (sr. Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) each crossed the plate one time. Right-hander Paige Merle (jr. Hope, NJ/Belvidere) was the winning pitcher in relief. She went two innings and only allowed two hits and one earned run.
Paiotti totaled three hits and two RBIs. Third baseman

Gianna Genello (so. West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) had one run.
The Profs led 3-0 after the first inning. Genello scored on a wild pitch. Gerard drove in Smith with a double to left center. Paiotti singled down the left field line, scoring Gerard. The Roadrunners trailed 3-2 after one run in the third and fourth. Hernandez came home on an error in the third inning while Brennan posted a solo shot in the fourth.
Rowan was ahead 4-2 after one run in the fifth inning. Smith scored on Paiotti's base hit through the left side. Brennan produced a RBI single in the sixth and the score was 4-3. In the seventh, DeDomenico plated Smith with a double to left field.
