Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL – The Rowan University baseball team had a 10-5 setback against Framingham State University at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Monday.
The Profs are 7-3 overall while the Rams evened their record at 3-3.
Right-hander Al Wallach (jr. Nahant, MA/Swampscott) threw 7.1 innings for the win. He (2-0) allowed five runs, four earned, and 11 hits while striking out four. Righty Michael Raymond (so. Peabody, MA/Peabody) picked up his first save, fanning three over the final 1.2 innings without surrendering a hit. Right-hander
Andrew Cartier (so. Estell Manor, NJ/Buena Reg.) suffered the loss. He (0-1) gave up six runs, three earned, and six hits while whiffing eight batters.
First baseman Emmanuel Powers (sr. Malden, MA/Malden Catholic) went three-for-five with a double, a home run, six RBIs and one run scored for Framingham State. Designated hitter Cameron Borrelli (jr. Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) and center fielder Kyle Lippert (so. Carlsbad, CA/Mission Vista) each had two hits (four at bats). Left fielder Kyle Pileski (jr. Bristol, CT/Bristol Central), second baseman Matthew Brockett (jr. Guilford, CT/Guilford) and Lippert touched the plate two times apiece.

Joe Sadler (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) was two-for-five with a double and two RBIs. Third baseman
Dillon Mendel (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta), center fielder
Shane Brown (sr. Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) and catcher
Steven Hewa (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) all contributed with two hits. Second baseman
Shawn Leydon (jr. Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) knocked in one run and scored two. Left fielder
Jason Clapper (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Brown each drove in one run.
In the second, third baseman Cole Josselyn (sr. Hampton, NH/West Brunswick) came home on an error and Brockett scored on a groundout to put the Rams ahead 2-0. The Profs tied the score in the third. Sadler's single plated Leydon and Clapper's sacrifice fly brought home right fielder
Kyle Golla (sr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)). Rowan took the lead in the fifth on Sadler's RBI double.
Framingham State regained the lead on Powers' two-run homer in the sixth. Leydon had a sac fly in the bottom half of the frame to even the score at four. In the seventh, Brockett touched the plate on an error and Powers sent a two-run single through the left side to give the Rams a 7-4 advantage. Jossalyn had a sacrifice fly in the eighth and the score was 8-4. The Profs' final tally was in the bottom half when designated hitter
Frank Rose (fr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) came home on a fielder's choice. Powers knocked in two insurance runs in the ninth with a double.
Rowan has a day off before resuming its Florida stint on Wednesday, March 15. The Profs face Salve Regina University at 4:15 p.m.
