GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's basketball team won 87-82 over The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night.
Guard/forward
Alex Raring (sr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) scored a game and career-high 30 points. She also collected six steals and four assists. Guard
Dominique Peters (so. Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) and guard
Olivia Rulon (jr. Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) each contributed with 17 points.

April Szymczyk (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and Peters totaled eight boards and three blocks. Guard
Summer Crilley (sr. Galloway, NJ/Holy Spirit) added 10 points and Szymczyk chipped in with eight.
Both teams are 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Forward Jen Byrne (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) led the Lions with 25 points and nine rebounds. Guard Charlotte Schum (sr. East Hanover, NJ/Morris Catholic) scored 20 points while forward Samantha Famulare (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) had 12. Forward Shannon Devitt (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield) came off the bench and recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Profs were ahead 40-39 after the first half. They started the third quarter with a 25-4 run to lead by 22 (65-43) with 4:31 left. Raring led the way with nine points, Peters followed with six and Rulon and Smymczyk each had five. Schum's layup at the five second mark cut the deficit to 11 (69-58) at the end of the period.
In the final quarter, Raring sank two foul shots (6:51) and the score was 73-59. TCNJ pulled within three points (73-70) at 4:26 after 11 straight points. Schum produced four points and Byrne had three while Famulare and Devitt registered two apiece. Bryne's three-pointer (2:58) tied the score at 76. Szymczyk answered with a free throw (1:59) and Raring hit back-to-back baskets (1:18, 1:07) for a five- point advantage (81-76).
With seven seconds on the clock, Byrne made a jumper and the Lions were down 85-80. Crilley sealed the victory at the line with two foul shots (0:05). Schum ended the scoring with a layup with one second remaining.
Rowan travels to Montclair State University on Saturday, Dec. 9 for a 3 p.m. conference game.
