GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swim team defeated Kean University, 142-55 on Thursday evening.
The Profs improve to 2-2 on the season and it was their first conference meet. Rowan won the 200 medley (1:56.83) and 200 freestyle (1:44.88) relays. The medley relay included Miranda Coughlan (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Emily Kopchick (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Veronica Alferez (fr. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.) and
Polina Dineva (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.). Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee), Elizabeth O'Brien (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Carlee Timmins (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Abigail Brous (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) were on the free relay.
Gligor was the winner (11:56.57) in the 1000 freestyle. Coughlan swam 2:19.57 in the 200 individual medley for first place. She also came in first (1:03.09) in the 100 backstroke. O'Brien and Timmins finished first (56.01) and second (58.95) respectively in the 100 freestyle.
Emily LaBenski (so. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.37) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.90). Megan Miller (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won the 50 free in 26.10. Bailey Howarth (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) captured first place (5:37.52) in the 500 freestyle. In the 200 freestyle, Claire McKissick (so. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) took first (2:06.66) while Howarth followed second (2:09.50) and Brous was third (2:11.04).
Amanda Burke (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) and
Cayleigh McCusker (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) were second (27.30) and third (27.82) respectively in the 50 free. Alferez finished second (2:19.79) in the 200 individual medley and Alex Bambrick (so. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) was third (2:26.49). Dineva came in second (1:06.31) in the 100 butterfly while Kopchick took third (1:11.15). Cayla Brie (so. Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) had a third place (1:04.41) in the 100 freestyle.
Rowan travels to William Paterson University on Friday, Nov. 12 for a 5 p.m. conference meet.
