MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming and diving team won 155-139 at Montclair State University on Saturday.
Jesse Novak (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 100 breaststroke (58.80) and 100 butterfly (51.72).
Matt Grubb (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) captured first (2:15.63) in the 200 breaststroke.
Nate Wojtowicz (so. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) touched first (22.07) in the 50 free.
Paul Long (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was the winner (48.72) in the 100 free and Wojtowicz followed second (49.11).
John Tepper (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Atlantic County Institute of Tech.) took first (4:48.65) in the 500 freestyle.
The Profs are undefeated with a 6-0 record and they are 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Red Hawks have a 6-3 record with a 0-2 conference mark. The 200 medley relay had a winning time of 1:37.11 with
Eric Emerson (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Washington Twp.), Novak,
Jake Kayati (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown) and
Anthony Czar (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.). The 400 freestyle relay finished second in 3:18.57. The free relay included
Chris Boyle (sr. Springfield, NJ/Seton Hall Prep),
Adam Sicinski (so. Allentown, PA/Parkland), Tepper and Wojtowicz.
In the one-meter diving (six dives),
Sean Piacente (so. New City, NY/Clarkstown S.) totaled 335.70 points for first place and
Mike Grubb (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was second (264.68). Piacente also won the one-meter diving (11 dives) with 543.60 points and
Mike Grubb came in second (432.98).
Emerson took second (55.50) in the 100 backstroke followed by
Colin Fisher (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), third (56.08) and
Matt Schillaci (fr. Sicklerville, NJ/Glassboro), fourth (58.32). Schillaci also had a third place (2:22.95) in the 200 breaststroke. In the 200 backstroke, Sicinski, Boyle and Tepper were second (1:58.24), third (2:05.39) and fourth (2:06.06) respectively.
Long came in second (2:02.04) in the 200 individual medley and Sicinski was third (2:03.64).
Nick Marks (sr. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) had a third place (1:02.37) in the 100 breaststroke and Czar finished third (22.46) in the 50 free. Boyle took third (1:49.09) in the 200 freestyle.
John Shellem (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in third (2:00.39) in the 200 butterfly and Kayati was fourth (2:01.35).
David Smits (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) had a fourth place (10:30.36) in the 1000 freestyle.
Next week, Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. It is the Profs' last home meet of the season.
