Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team defeated Washington & Lee University, 2-0 on Saturday in the first game of the Gilmore Alumni Classic.
The tournament continues on Sunday, Sept. 4 as Washington and Lee plays SUNY Oneonta at noon. The Profs then face the Red Dragons on Monday, Sept. 5 at noon.
Rowan has a record of 2-0 and it was the first game of the season for the Generals. This is the first time since the 2011 campaign that Rowan has won its first two games.

Travis Ward (jr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) recorded the eventual game-winner at the 26:03 mark after taking a cross from forward
Zack Sakena (so. Upper Twp., NJ/Ocean City). Ward then found forward
Shane Doherty (so. Delran, NJ/Delran) who shot the ball past the keeper on the lower left side of the net with 21:47 to play in the second half.

Kyle Dennis (so. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) stopped four shots. Washington and Lee goalie Gillen Beck (jr. Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg) made five saves.
