Box Score 2 HAVERFORD, PA – The Rowan University softball team swept a doubleheader at Haverford College on Thursday. The Profs had an 8-0 shutout in five innings and won 9-1 in six innings.
Rowan has a 17-5 record while Haverford drops to 9-11 overall. Right-hander
Beth Ann Hyland (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) threw three innings for the victory in game one. She (8-2) only allowed two hits and struck out four batters. Lefty Sara Tauriello (sr. Elma, NY/Iroquois) had the loss.

Ashley DeYoung (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) produced two hits (three at bats), one double, a home run and two RBIs. Shortstop
Shilah Snead (sr Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) contributed with two hits, a triple and three runs. Right fielder
Morgan Smith (so. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) and third baseman
Nicole Paiotti (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) each chipped in with one RBI.
The Profs led 2-0 after the first inning. Smith had a RBI single that scored Snead and Paiotti crossed the plate on a wild pitch. With two outs in the second, left fielder
Mia Baldassari (so. Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Morris Knolls) drove in Snead with a double to left field. Rowan scored two runs in the third. DeYoung led off with a double and was replaced by pinch runner
Rosalie Hood (so. Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek). Hood later scored on an error. Catcher
Alyssa Sims (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) got on base with a single and stole home for the fifth run.
Snead recorded a triple in the fourth inning and she scored on a fielder's choice with Paiotti at bat. DeYoung blasted a two-run homer to right field. It was her fifth home run on the season.
In the second game, righty
Ashley Lesch (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) was the winning pitcher. In four innings, she (3-1) gave up two hits and one earned run. Rookie
MacKenzie Juodaitis (fr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) had a save. Emily Winesett (sr. St. Petersburg, FL/Centerbury School of Florida) was the losing pitcher.
Smith totaled three hits, five RBIs and one run. Anderson registered three hits, three RBIs and one run. Snead chipped in with two hits and scored three runs.
The Fords tied the game at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Catcher Kristin Tatum (sr. Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline) had a home run. The Profs went ahead 4-1 with three runs in the fifth. Smith posted a two RBI single that brought Snead and Baldassari home. Hood scored on a single by second baseman
Carly Anderson (fr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley). Rowan broke the game open with five runs in the sixth inning. Smith knocked in two runs with a double down the left field line. Anderson followed with a two RBI base hit to right field and scored on an error.
