Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team ended its Florida trip with two wins on Friday. The Profs defeated Utica College, 12-0 in five innings and Springfield College, 11-4.
Rowan has a 13-5 record and went 11-1 at the Rebel Spring Games. Rookie
MacKenzie Juodaitis (fr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) was the winning pitcher versus Utica. She only gave up two hits in two innings of relief. Ally Cipollini was the losing pitcher.
Shortstop
Shilah Snead (sr. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) went two for four, with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Third baseman
Nicole Paiotti (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) contributed with two hits (two at bats), one RBI and two runs. Designated player
Ashley DeYoung (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) chipped in with two RBIs.
Second baseman
Carly Anderson (fr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) was two for two with one RBI. Right fielder
Morgan Smith (so. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) produced a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Left fielder
Mia Baldassari (so. Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Morris Knolls) collected two hits, one RBI and two runs.
Right-hander
Beth Ann Hyland (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had the win on the mound over Springfield. She (6-2) scattered five hits and did not allow a run. She struck out seven batters. Righty Talia Loda (2-3) took the loss.
Center fielder
Gianna Genello (fr. West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) was three for four with two runs scored. Snead registered two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Baldassari and Paiotti both had two hits and two RBIs. Pinch hitter
Amanda Parker (so. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park), Smith and DeYoung all posted one RBI.
The Profs were ahead 4-0 after two innings. Smith doubled home Baldassari in the first. Anderson crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Snead drove in a run with a double and scored on a single by Baldassari. Springfield tied the score with four runs in the top of the fifth and Rowan had one in the bottom half. DeYoung had a RBI double. The Profs pulled away with six runs in the sixth.
Rowan's home opener is on Thursday, March 31 against Neumann University at 2 p.m.
