Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team won two more contests at the Rebel Spring Games on Thursday. The Profs defeated Dickinson College, 8-1 and Hamilton College, 4-1.
Against Dickinson, catcher
Alyssa Sims (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) was four for four at the plate with one run scored. Left fielder
Mia Baldassari (so. Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Morris Knolls) contributed with two hits, two RBIs and one run. First baseman
Damariz Mercado (jr. Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) had a home run and two RBIs. Shortstop
Shilah Snead (sr. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) added two hits and scored two runs. Second baseman
Carly Anderson (fr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) went two for three with a double, one RBI and one run.
Right-hander
Beth Ann Hyland (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was the winning pitcher. She (5-2) threw four innings and only allowed one hit and one unearned run. Hyland struck out six batters. Righty Madison Milaszewski (0-2) took the loss.
Dickinson got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Rowan took the lead with five runs in the fourth. Designated player
Ashley DeYoung (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) recorded a home run down the left field line. Mercado produced a two-run homer and Baldassari drove in two runs with a single up the middle.
The Profs scored three more runs in the sixth inning. Snead crossed the plate on an error. Right fielder
Morgan Smith's (so. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) sacrifice fly brought home Baldassari. Anderson doubled in the final run.
Right-hander
MacKenzie Juodaitis (fr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) threw five innings for the victory versus Hamilton. She (3-2) scattered three hits and gave up one run.
Allison Nolan (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) was the mound for the last two innings and earned her fourth save. Pitcher Molly Leitner (1-1) had the loss.
Baldassari registered two RBIs and Mercado had one. Center fielder
Sammy Vradenburg (jr. Park Ridge, NJ/Park Ridge) scored two runs.
Hamilton led 1-0 after the first half of the third inning. Vradenburg tied the score in the bottom when she came home on a wild pitch. Rowan went ahead 2-1 in the fourth inning. Mercado tallied a RBI single, scoring pinch runner
Rosalie Hood (so. Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek). In the sixth, Baldassari knocked in two runs with a single up the middle.
Rowan's last two games in Florida are on Friday, March 18 against Utica College at 9 a.m. and Springfield College at 11:15 a.m.
