Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team defeated Wheaton College (MA), 8-0 in five innings on Saturday. Messiah College edged Rowan, 4-3 in the second game.

Beth Ann Hyland (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) threw three innings for the victory against Wheaton. She (3-2) did not give up a hit and had four strikeouts. Rookie
MacKenzie Juodaitis (fr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) was on the mound for the final two innings and only allowed one hit. Righty Allison Cox had the loss in the Lyons' season opener.

The Profs got on the scoreboard with a RBI single by Smith in the first inning. They led 4-0 after three runs in the second. Catcher
Alyssa Sims (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) came home on a fielder's choice with Genello at bat. Snead and Anderson both produced RBI singles.
Rowan went on to score two runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Smith singled up the middle in the fourth, scoring Anderson. Pinch hitter

Gianna Decker (fr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) with a base hit. Snead led off the fifth with a double and crossed the plate on Finnegan's single. Smith knocked in Finnegan with a single to center field.
Righty Courtney Allen (sr. Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) went the distance on the mound for Messiah. She (6-0) had five strikeouts and gave up three earned runs. The Eagles went ahead 4-3 in the top of the third inning. Left fielder Carrie Fix (so. York, PA/York Catholic) scored the first run with a bunt single. Allen recorded a three-run homer to center field.
Smith, Sims and Genello all registered two hits. Sims scored one run and Smith had one RBI. Designated player
