HOBOKEN, NJ – The Rowan University men's swim team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology, 140-122 on Saturday.
The Profs have a 2-0 record. It was the first meet of the season for the Ducks. Rowan won both relay events. The 200 medley relay swam a winning time of 1:34.97 with
Joe Furze (so. Moorestown, NJ/St. Joseph's Prep (PA)),
Matt Grubb (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Nick Marks (sr. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and
Jesse Novak (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan). Novak,
Eric Feuerstein (jr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit),
Nate Wojtowicz (so. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and
Paul Long (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) made up the first place (3:10.71) 400 freestyle relay.
Novak captured first in the 50 (21.38) and 100 (46.24) freestyles.
Mike Simunek (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) claimed first in the 100 (58.76) and 200 (2:12.43) breaststrokes. He also had a third place (2:02.82) in the 200 individual medley.
Anthony Czar (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was the winner (1:48.30) in the 200 freestyle and Wojtowicz was second (1:50.16). Feuerstein took second (47.69) in the 100 free.
Adam Sicinski (so. Allentown, PA/Parkland) claimed first (1:59.04) in the 200 backstroke and he was second (54.02) in the 100 backstroke. In the 100 back, Furze and
Dan Lawton (so. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) were third (54.38) and fourth (54.55) respectively. Furze was third (2:00.78) in the 200 backstroke and Lawton followed fourth (2:01.77).
John Tepper (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Atlantic County Institute of Technology) finished second in the 500 (4:53.99) and 1000 (9:59.45) freestyles. Grubb and Long were second (59.47) and third (1:00.43) respectively in the 100 breaststroke. Marks had a second place (1:59.56) in the 200 butterfly and he was third (54.19) in the 100 butterfly.
Nick Marte (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) took fourth (54.31) in the 100 butterfly and
Colin Fisher (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was fourth (2:03.73) in the 200 individual medley.
John Shellem (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in fourth (2:03.03) in the 200 butterfly.
