Box Score NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent Rutgers-Newark, 2-1 on Saturday night.
 
Forward Maxine New (jr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) recorded the game-winner at 76:37.  New hit the upper left side of the net after a pass from forward Cathryn McCarry (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.).  The Profs have a 5-1-1 record with a 1-0-1 NJAC mark.  The Scarlet Raiders are 8-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.  Rowan totaled 14 shots while Rutgers-Newark took six.   
 
Profs' goalkeeper Shelby Money (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) made two saves.  For the Scarlet Raiders, goalie Diana Carvalho (so. Newark, NJ/East Side) stopped seven shots. 
 
The Scarlet Raiders had a 1-0 advantage after the first half.  Midfielder Cristina Estremera (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) scored at 24:13 with a one-timer from 25-yards and midfielder Sara Corson (sr. Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) had the assist.  Midfielder Megan Carchidi (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) tied the score at 65:04.  She blasted a shot from the top of the box and it deflected into the net.
 
Next, Rowan starts a three-game home stand on Monday, Sept. 28 against Alvernia University at 7 p.m.
