Box Score BRYN MAWR, PA – The Rowan University women's volleyball team began the 2015 season with a 3-0 victory at Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday night.
It was also the season opener for Bryn Mawr. The set scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-19.

Maggie Catherina (sr. Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield Mem.) and outside hitter
Erica O'Hagan (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) led Rowan with seven kills apiece. O'Hagan also had five digs. Middle hitter
Gina Kisley (so. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) tallied six kills and four digs. Outside hitter
Danielle Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) and middle hitter
Jamie Shirtz (fr. Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) each chipped in with four kills. Setter
Mary-Grace Testa (so. Kearny, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and defensive specialist/setter
Rebecca Dantonio (jr. Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) accumulated 17 and 11 assists respectively. Libero
Jennifer Vorel (jr. Madison, NJ/Madison) recorded 25 digs.
For Bryn Mawr, outside hitter Noemi Moreno (sr. Bell, CA/Bell) compiled nine kills and 16 digs. Middle back Sarah Gates (sr. North Scituate, RI/Ponaganset) added six kills and 15 digs. Setter Nolan Julien (sr. Rosharon, TX/YES Prep East End) accumulated 17 assists. Defensive specialist Alexandra Nagelski (jr. Huntersville, NC/Woodlawn School) recorded 18 digs and defensive specialist Lauren Shue (jr. Claremont, CA/Vivian Webb School) had 12.
In the first set the score was tied at two. Then Rowan scored four straight points, including two service aces by Vorel. The Profs extended their lead to 9-3 after a kill by opposite
Dalton Sanchez (fr. Olney, MD/Sherwood). Rowan held a 15-8 advantage then Bryn Mawr converted seven straight points to tie the set at 15. Gates recorded a kill and a service ace during the run. Rowan responded with four straight tallies that included two kills by O'Hagan. The Owls trimmed the deficit to 20-17, but Rowan scored five of the final six points to win the set.
Bryan Mawr went out to a 4-2 lead in the second set. Rowan recorded four straight points for a 6-4 advantage. The set was tied at eight, then the Profs reeled off four consecutive points, including two kills by Havlicek to go ahead 12-8. Bryn Mawr cut the lead to 13-12, but a kill by Shirtz and two service aces by Vorel extended the Profs' cushion to 16-12. Rowan was not threatened for the remainder of the set and won by nine points.
The score was tied at four early in the third set. The Profs then used a kill by opposite/outside hitter
Jess Quinlan (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and a pair of service aces by Havlicek to go ahead 7-4. Rowan led 12-8, but the Owls tallied four consecutive points to tie the set at 12. The Profs recorded the next five points for a 17-12 advantage. Bryn Mawr could only get as close as three for the remainder of the set and the Profs won by a six-point margin.
Rowan plays its first home matches of the season at the Profs Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4. The Profs face Marymount University at 4 p.m. and College of Mount Saint Vincent at 8 p.m. The matches will be played in the Rec Center.
