Box Score 2 GLASSBORO, NJ – The William Paterson University softball team took both games of a conference doubleheader at Rowan University on Tuesday. The Pioneers won 3-0 and 8-0 in six innings.
Right-hander Allison Podmajersky (so. Red Bank, NJ/Middletown S.) was the winning pitcher in the opener. She (8-4) allowed four hits and had five strikeouts. It was her sixth shutout on the season. Righty
Beth Ann Hyland (jr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) took the loss. She (13-2) gave up two hits and three runs, two earned.
Center fielder Kelsey Principe (sr. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) drove in two runs and shortstop Rachel Wasilak (so. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) contributed with one RBI. Both players had one hit. Right fielder Nicole Fryer (so. East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg S.), catcher Kim Fryer (so. East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg S.) and first baseman Melissa Swain (sr. West Berlin, NJ/Paul VI) all scored one run.
William Paterson led 2-0 after the third inning. Principe produced a two RBI single to right center, scoring Kim Fryer and Swain. In the sixth, Wasilak knocked in Nicole Fryer with a base hit.
In the second game, right-hander Gabrielle Castelli (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) had the victory on the mound. She (10-4) struck out five batters and gave up four hits. Righty
