Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, FL – The Rowan University softball team defeated Husson College, 14-1 in five innings and Muskingum College, 11-7 on Saturday. It is the Profs' second day at the Rebel Spring Games.
Rowan is undefeated with a 10-0 record. Right-hander
Rachel Gagliardo (fr. Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) recorded her first collegiate victory on the mound against Husson. She pitched three innings and gave up four hits and one earned run. Gagliardo struck out four batters. Righty
Ashley Lesch (fr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) threw two hitless innings. Kayla Merrill (1-3) (sr. Bethel, ME/Telstar Reg.) was the losing pitcher.

Mia Baldassari (fr. Hopatcong, NJ/Morris Knolls) collected two hits (three at bats), three RBIs and two runs. Second baseman
Alysa Romero (sr. Newfield, NJ/Vineland) produced two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Designated player
Ashley DeYoung (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) had two hits in three at bats, a home run and two RBIs. Pinch hitter
Sara Finnegan (so. South Brunswick, NJ/South Brunswick) recorded three RBIs with a triple.

Morgan Smith (fr. Millsboro, DE/Sussex Central) went three for three with a double and two RBIs. Shortstop
Shilah Snead (jr. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) contributed with three hits and scored three runs. First baseman
Damariz Mercado (so. Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) added one hit and one run.
Husson scored its run in the top of the first inning. Merrill crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by designated player Casey Lopes (so. New Bedford, MA/New Bedford). Rowan took the lead with three runs in the bottom half. Baldassari drove in Snead with a base hit to right center. Romero's double brought Baldassari home. Smith had a RBI single, scoring Romero.
The Profs had a 6-1 lead after three runs in the second. Romero recorded a two RBI double while Smith had one RBI with a double. Baldassari posted a two RBI base hit in the third inning. She later crossed the plate on an error. DeYoung blasted a two run shot over the center field fence. In the fourth, Rowan had three more runs with Finnegan's triple.
Rowan trailed 7-6 going into the top of the sixth versus Muskingum. Snead and Baldassari hit back-to-back singles. Romero was hit by a pitch and DeYoung followed with a single that scored Snead and Baldassari. The Profs had the lead 8-7 going into the seventh. Right fielder
Alyssa Sims (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and Snead each had a single. With two outs, Romero recorded a three run homer to right center.
Rowan had a 6-0 advantage after the first inning. Romero doubled in two runs and scored on Smith's sac fly. Pinch runner
Rosalie Hood (fr. Egg Harbor City, NJ/Cedar Creek) crossed the plate on a bunt single by first baseman
Jessica Phillips (sr. Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Reg.). Center fielder
Shannon Costello (sr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and third baseman
Amanda Parker (fr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) both came home on Snead's double. Muskingum scored all seven runs in the third inning.
Romero ended the game with three hits (four at bats), five RBIs and two runs. Snead went for four five with two RBIs and three runs. Sims contributed with two hits and one run while Parker added one hit and scored one run. Baldassari chipped in with two hits and two runs. Lesch pitched 4.1 innings in relief for the win. She (3-0) only gave up three hits. Righty Sarah Browning (jr. Mason, OH/Mason) had the loss on the mound. She (1-3) allowed five earned runs in 6.2 innings.
On Sunday (March 15), Rowan starts the day with a 10 a.m. game against Farmingdale State College followed by a 12:15 p.m. contest versus SUNY Cortland.
