Women's Basketball Seeded Third In NJAC Championship Tournament

GLASSBORO, ­­­NJ – Rowan University is the third seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Profs (17-8) host the sixth seed Rutgers-Newark (13-12) in the first round on Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m.
 
This is the Profs' 19th appearance in the NJAC Championship Tournament and their first since 2012. Rowan has a 16-12 record in tournament play with six NJAC titles.
 
Tickets for the conference tournament are $5 for adults and $2 for students, children and senior citizens. The first 50 Rowan students will receive a free ticket to the game. Athletic passes and Rowan IDs are not accepted for postseason tournaments.
 
The Profs and Scarlet Raiders have never met in the NJAC Championship Tournament. During the regular season, Rowan defeated Rutgers-Newark, 61-52 (Jan. 17) in Newark and 74-62 (Feb. 14) at home. The winner takes on the second seed, Stockton University (20-5) on Wednesday, February 25 at 7 p.m.
 
The other first round game features the fifth seed, William Paterson University (14-11), traveling to the fourth seed, The College of New Jersey (15-10) on February 21 at 1 p.m. The winner plays top-seeded Montclair State University (24-1) on Wednesday, February 25 at 7 p.m.
 
The two semifinal winners play for the NJAC Championship on Saturday, February 28. The contest takes place at the highest remaining seed. The NJAC champion earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
