Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Stockton University men's basketball team won 88-71 at Rowan University on Tuesday night.
Guard Armin Cane (sr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) led the way with a double-double, 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Maurice Hart (jr. Asbury Park, NJ/Asbury Park) came off the bench and contributed with 18 points and nine boards. Forward Jaymere Hadden (jr. Millville, NJ/Millville) chipped in with 15 points and five assists.
The Ospreys are 3-1 overall and the Profs have a 2-4 record. It was the first conference game of the season for both teams.
For Rowan, forward
Shawn Wilson (jr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) totaled 17 points and six rebounds. Guard
Kris O'Connor (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) collected 13 points and forward
Gary Carthan (jr. Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) had 10.
In the first half, Stockton had an 11-point lead after Hart's dunk at 13:31. Forward Marcus Harmon (so. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) hit a three at 10:09 and the score was 24-11. The Ospreys were ahead 39-23 with 4:44 remaining. Rowan followed with seven straight points and trailed by nine (39-30) at 3:27. Wilson scored five points and O'Connor had two. With one second left, Wilson hit two free throws and Stockton was up 47-34 at the break. Hart led all scorers in the period with 13 points.
Cane scored a layup and had a foul shot at 17:55 in the second half for a 20-point advantage (56-36). He sank a three (13:52), which made the score 64-42. Cane hit another three-pointer at 9:08 and the Ospreys had a 23-point lead (77-54). All 21 of Cane's points came in the final stanza.
Rowan plays Division I La Salle University on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. in Esby Gym. The game was scheduled to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the 1996 Rowan Men's Basketball National Championship.
