Regional ResultsCASTILE, NY – The Rowan University men's cross country team took eighth place at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday. There were 41 schools that competed at the regional, which was held at Letchworth State Park.
Kevin Veltre (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) was the first Prof to cross the finish line. He came in 32nd with a time of 26:12.7 over the 8K course and
Pat McCurry (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) was 35th in 26:15.8. Both runners earned Atlantic All-Region honors.
Zach Helm (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton North-Nottingham) finished 52nd (26:32.4) and
Nick Neville (fr. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) followed 59th (26:39.3).
John Meyer (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) had a 61st place (26:41.6).
Edward Freisinger (so. Stockholm, NJ/Wallkill Valley Reg.) and
William Cheety (jr. National Park, NJ/Gateway Reg.) were 86th (27:04.8) and 137th (27:48.1) respectively.
SUNY Geneseo's Isaac Garcia-Cassani captured the individual title with a time of 25:11.1. Geneseo took first place in the team scoring and St. Lawrence University was second. The two schools qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, WI.
The top two teams from the eight regionals advance to the national championships and 16 at-large teams are selected and 56 individuals. The top seven individuals from each region that are not a member of a qualifying team, move on to the national championships.
