Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team defeated Kean University, 3-0 in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament on Saturday night.
 
The Profs have an overall record of 16-4 and the Cougars are 14-6. Rowan faces top seeded Montclair State University (17-2) in the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. In the other first round game, Rutgers-Camden won over Rutgers-Newark, 2-1. The Scarlet Raptors (13-7-1) travel to second seeded Stockton University (14-4-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The semifinal winners play for the NJAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the highest remaining seed. The conference champion earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
 
Rowan goalie Kyle Dennis (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) stopped two shots in 82:17 of action. Keeper Grant Kelly (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) played the final 7:43. Kean goalie Brad Watkins (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) made seven saves.
 
Rowan got on the board at the 25:22 mark, when midfielder Shane Kohler (sr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) knocked in a loose ball after the initial shot by back Kevin Primich (fr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) was saved. Midfielder Vinny Ignatowicz (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) made the score 2-0 with 33:22 on the clock in the second half. He headed in a cross from forward Travis Ward (so. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt). Forward Shane Doherty (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) capped the scoring with 16:43 remaining on a header from a pass by midfielder Vincent Guzzo (so. Ocean City, NJ/Washington Twp.).
