Women's Volleyball Loses Two Matches At New York Regional Challenge

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, NY – The Rowan University women's volleyball team lost two matches at the New York Regional Challenge hosted by Nazareth College on Friday. SUNY Fredonia won 3-0 and Stevens Institute of Technology had a 3-0 victory.
 
The Profs have an overall record of 11-19 after today's action. SUNY Fredonia is 22-9 and Stevens is 19-11.
 
The set scores against Fredonia were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-16. Outside hitter Sara Madison (jr. Rochester, NY/Penfield) tallied 10 kills. Middle blocker Jessica DiChristopher (sr. Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca E.) and outside hitter Kristen Stanek (so. Hamburg, NY/Orchard Park) each recorded eight kills. Setter Kelly Edinger (sr. Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) collected 29 assists and 10 digs. Libero Lauren Hokaj (sr. Lancaster, NY/St. Mary's of Lancaster) added 11 digs.
 
For Rowan, opposite Dalton Sanchez (fr. Olney, MD/Sherwood) had seven kills. Defensive specialist/setter Rebecca Dantonio (jr. Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) accumulated 12 assists and six digs. Setter Mary-Grace Testa (so. Kearny, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) chipped in with 11 assists. Outside hitters Erica O'Hagan (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) and Erin Keegan (fr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) contributed with eight kills apiece.
 
The set scores versus Stevens were 25-12, 25-23 and 25-22. The Ducks were led by outside hitter Mary Tobin (jr. Boothwyn, PA/Archmere Academy) who had 13 kills. Opposite Christina Sciarra (jr. Montclair, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) collected 10 kills and six service aces. Setter/defensive specialist Catie Shelton (sr. Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) contributed with 34 assists. Libero Sydni Horner (so. Columbia, MD/River Hill) and outside hitter Brianna Evans (so. Spokane, WA/Mead) added 19 and 11 digs respectively.
 
Outside hitter Danielle Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) and middle hitter Maggie Catherina (sr. Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield Mem.) each recorded seven kills for Rowan. Testa had 19 assists and Dantonio, 10. Libero/defensive specialist Jennifer Vorel (jr. Madison, NJ/Madison) tallied nine digs.
 
Rowan continues play at the New York Regional Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 31. The Profs face Nazareth at 10:30 a.m. and Rochester Institute of Technology at 2:30 p.m.
