Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's volleyball team defeated Ramapo College, 3-1 on Tuesday night.
The Profs have an overall record of 10-11 and they are 4-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners are 13-6 overall and they have a 3-2 conference mark. The set scores were 26-24, 18-25, 25-19 and 25-14.
Outside hitter
Erica O'Hagan (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) had 14 kills, eight digs and three service aces to lead the Profs. She also had a .394 hitting percentage. Opposite
Dalton Sanchez (fr. Olney, MD/Sherwood) recorded 11 digs. Outside hitter
Danielle Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) accumulated 10 kills and 11 digs. Defensive specialist/setter
Rebecca Dantonio (jr. Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) tallied 24 assists and 11 digs. Setter
Mary-Grace Testa (so. Kearny, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) collected 16 assists and 12 digs. Libero
Jennifer Vorel (jr. Madison, NJ/Madison) had 20 digs and defensive specialist
Kerriann Manziano (jr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) added 11.
For Ramapo, outside hitter Larysa Iwaskiw (so. Westwood, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) tallied 21 kills and 13 digs. Middle blocker Emily Guzman (jr. Clifton, NJ/Clifton) chipped in with 10 kills. Setter Kaitlin Mac Iver (sr. Hillside, NJ/Pascack Valley) contributed with 32 assists.
Rowan scored the first four points of the opening set and led 7-2 early on. A kill by Iwaskiw trimmed the lead to 9-7. The Profs had a 15-10 advantage then the Roadrunners scored four straight points to get to within one (15-14). Rowan continued to hold a slim lead, but Ramapo tied the set at 22 on a kill by outside hitter Rachel Selmore (jr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown). The set was tied at 23 and 24. The Profs recorded the final two points on a Ramapo error and an O'Hagan kill.
In the second set it was the Roadrunners who went out in front 4-1. Rowan cut the deficit to two points (12-10) after an O'Hagan kill. Ramapo held the advantage and the Profs could only get as close as two points for the remainder of the set.
In set three, the scored was tied at seven. Rowan then used a 7-2 run to go ahead 14-9. The Roadrunners trimmed the lead to 14-11, but a 5-1 spurt extended the Profs' advantage to seven points (19-12). Rowan continued to stay in the lead and won the set on a kill by Havlicek.
The fourth set was all Profs as they jumped out to a 10-3 lead. Havlieck had two kills early in the stanza. Rowan expanded its cushion to 15-5 and then 20-10. It went on to win the set by 11 points.
Rowan travels to conference opponent William Paterson University on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
