Box Score ITHACA, NY  – The Rowan University softball team won 7-1 over Ithaca College in the second round of the NCAA Regional on Saturday.  The Profs advance to the region final on Sunday, May 11 at Ithaca College. 
 
Rowan (36-10) plays Ithaca (26-13) at noon on Sunday.  Ithaca defeated SUNY Oneonta, 4-3 in the third game on Saturday.  Penn State Altoona lost to SUNY Oneonta, 3-2 in the second contest.  In the first round on Friday, Rowan shut out SUNY Oneonta, 7-0 and Ithaca edged Penn State Altoona, 2-1.
 
The national softball tournament is double elimination.  The winner from each regional advances to the Super Regional, Friday-Saturday, May 16-17.  The NCAA Championship Tournament is scheduled for Thursday-Monday, May 22-26 at the University of Texas at Tyler.     
 
Right-hander Krysti Maronski (sr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) pitched four innings for the victory.  She (22-5) allowed two hits and one run.  Righty Beth Ann Hyland (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was on the mound for the final three innings and only gave up one hit.  Pitcher Sam Bender (sr. Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) had the loss.  In 4.1 innings, she (17-6) surrendered seven hits and five runs.
 
The Profs ended the game with 11 hits.  Shortstop Shilah Snead (so. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and left fielder Jennifer Arcella (sr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) each had two hits, one RBI and two runs scored.  Designated player Ashley DeYoung (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) contributed with a double, two RBIs and one run scored. 
 
Center fielder Shannon Costello (jr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) went three for three at the plate and scored one run.  Right fielder Sammy Vradenburg (fr. Park Ridge, NJ/Park Ridge) produced two RBIs and second baseman Alysa Romero (jr. Newfield, NJ/Vineland) added one. 
 
Rowan had a 1-0 lead with a RBI single by Arcella in the first inning.  She drove in Snead who led off with a base hit.  The Profs tallied four runs in the fifth inning.  Snead plated Costello with a hit up the middle.  DeYoung doubled to right center, scoring Snead and Arcella.  Romero knocked in right fielder Dana Cafone (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) with a single. 
 
The Bombers' lone run came in the bottom half of the fifth.  Pinch runner Gabbie Litz (fr. Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) crossed the plate on a single by shortstop Francesca Busa (jr. St. James, NY/Smithtown E.).  Rowan added two runs in the seventh.  Vradenburg recorded a two-RBI single.  Arcella and DeYoung both scored.
