GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University softball team shut out Ramapo College, 11-0 in five innings and 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Right-hander Krysti Maronski (sr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) recorded a no-hitter in the opener.  She (12-3) struck out nine batters and only gave up one walk.  Maronski also had three hits in three at bats and scored two runs.  Right-handed pitcher Harley Masiello (sr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) had the loss on the mound.  
 
Left fielder Jennifer Arcella (sr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) was two for three with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.  Shortstop Shilah Snead (so. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) contributed with two hits (three at bats) and two RBIs.  She crossed the plate two times.  Designated player Ashley DeYoung (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) chipped in with a double and three RBIs. 
 
Center fielder Shannon Costello (jr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had two hits and scored one run.  Third baseman Amanda Toomer (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and first baseman Damariz Mercado (fr. Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) added one RBI apiece.  Toomer also scored two runs.  Second baseman Alysa Romero (jr. Newfield, NJ/Vineland) and catcher Meagan Lee (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) each had one run scored.
 
The Profs scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning.  Toomer walked with the bases loaded and Romero came home.  Mercado produced a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Maronski.  Snead plated Lee with a single and DeYoung smacked a three-RBI double.  Rowan added five more runs in the third.  Snead registered a RBI single and Arcella followed with a grand slam.  It was her second homer on the season.
 
In the second game, righty Beth Ann Hyland (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had the win in relief.  She threw five innings and only allowed one hit.  Left-hander Nicole Schneider (sr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) allowed two earned runs on eight hits in the loss. 
 
The Profs are 21-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference.  The Roadrunners have an 11-14 record and they are 3-7 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  Romero and Lee each tallied two hits and one was a double.  DeYoung and Costello had one RBI apiece.  Snead and Romero both crossed home plate one time.
 
Rowan's two runs came in the bottom of the first inning.  Snead led off with a single to right field.  She stole second and went to third on a wild pitch.  DeYoung's ground out scored Snead.  Romero had a double to right field and she came home on a single through the right side by Costello.   
 
Next, Rowan has a rescheduled home doubleheader against Centenary College on Monday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
