Softball Wins Against Hope College, 10-4 and St. Norbert College, 2-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MINNEOLA, FL – The Rowan University softball team won its last two contests at the Dot Richardson Spring Games.  The Profs defeated Hope College, 10-4 and St. Norbert College, 2-0.

Against Hope, second baseman Alysa Romero (jr. Newfield, NJ/Vineland) collected three hits in four at bats, one home run, two RBIs and three runs scored.  Shortstop Shilah Snead (so. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) contributed two RBIs and a solo homer.  She also scored two runs.  Left fielder Jennifer Arcella (jr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) went two for four with a double, two RBIs and one run scored.

Right fielder Dana Cafone (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) chipped in with two RBIs.  Designated player Ashley DeYoung (so. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills), third baseman Jessica Phillips (jr. Woolwich, NJ/Kingway Reg.) and catcher Meagan Lee (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) each had two hits.  Lee also scored two runs while DeYoung registered one RBI. 

Right-hander Beth Ann Hyland (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was the winning pitcher.  She (5-2) threw 4.2 innings and only allowed four hits and one earned run.  Allison Nolan (so. Red Bank, NJ/Middletown S.) pitched the last 2.1 innings.  Righty Kate Laverty had the loss on the mound.  She (1-3) gave up eight hits and five earned runs. 

For the Flying Dutch (4-4), shortstop/second baseman Jenna Maury was two for four with a double, one RBI and one run scored.  Third baseman Kelsey Cooper posted a double, two RBIs and one run scored.  Center fielder Autumn Anderson had one hit and scored one run.

Right-hander Krysti Maronski (sr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester Institute of Technology) recorded her third shutout versus St. Norbert (2-8).  In six innings, she (6-2) only gave up two hits while striking out seven batters.  Hyland pitched the seventh for her first save.  Morgan Rusch  (1-6) was the losing pitcher. 

Rowan scored one run in the second and third innings.  DeYoung recorded her third homer on the season in the second with a shot to left center field.  In the third, Snead led off with a triple to right field and Arcella followed with a walk.  Romero had a sacrifice bunt that scored Snead.

The Profs have an 11-4 overall record.  They went 10-1 on their spring trip.  Rowan is scheduled to play Centenary College on Tuesday, March 25 in the home opener at 3 p.m.
