Women's Volleyball Loses Two Matches At The New York Regional Challenge

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HOBOKEN, NJ – The Rowan University women's volleyball team lost two matches at the New York Regional Challenge on Friday afternoon.
 
The tournament is being held at Stevens Institute of Technology. Rowan fell to New York University, 3-0 and Stevens, 3-1. The Profs have a record of 14-15.
 
The set scores against NYU were 25-16, 25-23 and 25-19. Middle hitter Morgan Mende (jr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) and outside hitter Danielle Havlicek (jr. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) each had seven kills. Outside hitter Erica O'Hagan (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) added six kills and 10 digs. Setter Mary-Grace Testa (fr. Kearny, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic Academy) recorded 19 assists and 10 digs.
 
For NYU, middle blocker Nicole Frias (jr. Marin County, CA/San Domenico) and outside hitter Gigi Morally (so. Laguna Beach, CA/St. Margaret's Episcopal School) tallied nine kills apiece. Setter Celine Das (fr. Marietta, GA/Alan C. Pope) registered 32 assists. Libero MaTia Hughes (so. Atlanta, GA/North Gwinnett) and defensive specialist Brooke Tannahill (fr. Albany, CA/Albany) produced 18 and 10 digs respectively.
 
Against Stevens, Mende accumulated nine kills and opposite/outside hitter Kelsey Mazurek (jr. Easton, PA/Easton Area) had eight. Testa tallied 20 assists and three service aces. Libero Jennifer Vorel (so. Madison, NJ/Madison) registered 21 digs. O'Hagan collected 11 digs and four kills. The set scores were 25-14, 25-11, 23-25 and 25-16.
 
For the Ducks, outside hitter Mary Tobin (so. Boothwyn, PA/Archmere Academy) had 16 kills and 11 digs. Opposite Christina Sciarra (so. Montclair, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) added 13 kills, while outside hitter/middle blocker Katie Hall (sr. Midlothian, VA/Lloyd C. Bird) recorded 12 kills and four blocks. Setter Ashley Castillo (sr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) tallied 40 assists and libero/outside hitter Sydni Horner (fr. Columbia, MD/River Hill) produced 22 digs.
 
Rowan continues play at the New York Regional Challenge on Saturday. The Profs face Rochester Institute of Technology at 10 a.m.
