EWING, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming and diving team fell to The College of New Jersey, 171-121 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Profs are 9-1 overall and they are 2-1 in the NJAC. The Lions have an overall mark of 6-2 and they have a 4-0 conference mark.

In the one meter diving, John Morris (fr. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) took first (315.53), Ben Balesteri (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was third (259.43) and Killian O'Gorman (so. Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) finished fourth (225.08). Morris and Balesteri were first (351.38) and second (289.95) respectively in the three meter diving.

The 400 freestyle relay of Pat Malone (sr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Tyler Coe (so. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Jesse Novak (fr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Pat Myers (so. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) took second (3:13.93). Larry Dow (sr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Malone, Coe and Novak finished third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.66.

Malone had second place finishes in the 100 (52.79) and 200 (1:59.11) butterflies. Novak was second in the 50 (21.49) and 100 (48.93) freestyles. Kyle Surette (so. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:05.57). Kyle DeVore (fr. Annapolis, MD/South River) placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:02.26) and Connor Buck (so. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) took second in the 500 freestyle (5:02.60).

Zac Wister (jr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) was third in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:08.39 and Steven Buzby (fr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) finished fourth (10:24.46). Wister came in third in the 200 backstroke (2:06.94). Buzby took third in the 500 freestyle (5:04.90) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:08.28).

Dow was fourth in the 100 backstroke (55.70). In the 100 freestyle, Dow had a third place finish (49.16) followed by Myers, fourth (50.60). Coe was third (1:00.90) and Mike Simunek (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) fourth (1:01.02) in the 100 breaststroke. Simunek was second (2:14.11) in the 200 breaststroke and third (2:05.87) in the 200 individual medley. Coe finished fourth (2:17.91) in the 200 breaststroke.

Troy Cervini (jr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) and Michael Demarest (sr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) finished third (22.51) and fourth (22.91) respectively in the 50 freestyle. Luke Wister (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) finished fourth (2:07.35) in the 200 backstroke. Paul Long (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in third in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.42). Tylar Warfle (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) finished third in the 100 butterfly (55.14), while Chris Cannizzaro (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) took fourth (55.26).

Rowan hosts Ramapo College on Saturday, February 1 for a 2 p.m. meet.
