GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's swimming and diving team won 185-101 over Montclair State University in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action on Saturday. 

The Profs are 9-0 overall and have an NJAC mark of 2-0. The Red Hawks have a 5-5 overall record and they are 0-2 in the conference.
 
Kyle DeVore (fr. Annapolis, MD/South River), Tyler Coe (so. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Pat Malone (sr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Jesse Novak (fr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 200 medley relay in 1:37.69. Malone, Novak, Troy Cervini (jr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) and Steven Buzby (fr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) took first place in the 400 freestyle relay (3:18.18).
 
Zac Wister (jr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) took first place in the 1000 (10:07.85) and 500 (4:54.05) freestyles. DeVore won the 100 backstroke (55.99), Eric Emerson (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished second (56.52) and Avery Alexander (fr. Eatontown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) came in third (58.23). DeVore also took first place in the 200 backstroke (2:02.04).
 
Coe won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.66. He finished third in the 200 individual medley (2:04.26). Mike Simunek (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) took second (1:01.03) and Paul Long (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in third (1:01.76) in the 100 breaststroke. Malone won the 100 (53.22) and 200 (2:01.91) butterflies. Chris Cannizzaro (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) and Tylar Warfle (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) finished second (2:03.31) and third (2:06.85) respectively in the 200 butterfly.
 
Novak finished first in the 50 (21.61) and 100 (48.56) freestyles, while Cervini took third in the 50 (22.60) and 100 (50.30). Simunek won the 200 breaststroke (2:12.65) and finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:03.68).
 
In the one meter diving (five required dives), John Morris (fr. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) took first (190.95), Ben Balesteri (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was second (153.83) and Killian O'Gorman (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) took third (151.88). Morris, Balesteri and O'Gorman also finished first (316.28), second (244.05) and third (212.63) respectively in the one meter diving (six optional dives).


For Montclair State, Mike Smith (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won the 200 freestyle (1:46.13) and finished second in the 100 (50.16) and 500 (4:57.26) freestyles. Joseph Berry (sr. Edison, NJ/Edison) took first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.31) and second place in the 200 (1:46.88) and 50 (22.29) freestyles. Nick Kalafatis (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) was the second place finisher in the 1000 freestyle (10:20.88), while Alan Buob (so. Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Reg.) took third (10:58.72).
 
Brian Ubhaus (fr. Jefferson Twp., NJ/Jefferson) was second in the 200 backstroke (2:12.08) and David DuBois (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.18). Richard Sang (jr. Stockholm, NJ/Vernon) finished second in the 100 butterfly (57.59)
 
Rowan will travel to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 25 for a 2 p.m. meet.
