Women's Soccer Wins 6-1 Over Penn State Berks

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team won 6-1 over visiting Penn State Berks on Tuesday night

The Profs are 6-1 overall while the Lions have a 3-2 record.  This week, Rowan is ranked seventh in the South Atlantic Region.

Forward Erika Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) led the way with two goals.  Forward Dayna Sakalsky (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) contributed with one goal and one assist.  Midfielders Kayla Leahey (jr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley (NY)) and Lisa Cella (fr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) and forward Nicole Bashford (fr. Union, NJ/Union) all scored one goal.  Backs Miranda Donnian (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Deandra Turchi (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Paul VI) and Brianna Shields (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and midfielder Sherry Oller (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) each registered an assist.

Midfielder Dana Sarcinello (fr. Downingtown, PA/Downingtown W.) scored Penn State Berks' goal.  The Profs produced 23 shots and the Lions had nine.  Rowan goalkeeper Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) made five saves.  Penn State Berks goalie Savannah Cramer (jr. Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) stopped nine shots. 

Sarcinello put the Lions on the scoreboard first at 12:26.  She blasted a shot from outside the center of the box, which went off Trivino's hands into the left side of the net.  Cella tied the score at 18:42 when she knocked in a rebound after Oller's shot was saved by Cramer.  At 31:47, Leahey put the Profs ahead with a shot to the right side with a feed from Shields.

Suhl started the scoring in the second half at 46:54.  She hit the left side of the net with a high shot and Sakalsky had the assist.  Sakalsky scored at 78:25 on a pass from Donnian and Suhl scored 24 seconds later unassisted.  Bashford produced the final goal with seven seconds left on an assist from Turchi.

Rowan is home again on Saturday, September 21 against St. Mary's College at 1 p.m.
