Montclair State Men's Soccer Wins 4-2 At Rowan

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Montclair State University men's soccer team won 4-2 at Rowan University on Wednesday night.  It was the first conference game for both teams.

The Red Hawks are undefeated with a 6-0 record.  This week, Montclair State was ranked second in the South Atlantic Region and 11th in the nation.  The Profs are 3-2 overall.

In the second half, the Red Hawks went up 3-1 after goals from forward Mike Olla (fr. Bloomfield, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) at 61:47 and midfielder Jesse Shea (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) at 75:07.  Rowan pulled within one when back Nick Bolton (jr. Dover, DE/Dover) scored with an assist from back Dave Schwartz (s. Point Pleasant NJ/Point Pleasant Boro).  Olla scored his second goal at 87:23 on a breakaway.    

Midfielder Shane Kohler (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) put the Profs on the scoreboard first at 20:42.  He headed  in a cross from forward/midfielder Dylan Smith (sr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert).  With 3:54 left in the first half, forward Pablo Zegarra (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) tied the score with an unassisted goal.

The Red Hawks registered 19 total shots and the Profs had six.  Montclair State goalie Kevin Lynch (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) made one save and Rowan goalkeeper Ryan Gill (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) stopped three shots.
