PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed at the Penn Relays on Thursday. The 4x400 meter relay took first place in the Collegiate Track Conference Championships race.
The 4x400 meter relay had a time of 3:51.51, which broke the Penn Relays record (3:52.54) that was set last year by Holy Family University. The 4x400 included Brianna Crofton (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp.), Joyce Perry (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) and Melirah Searcy (so. Edison, NJ/Edison).
In the college women’s javelin, Melissa Lake (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took 17th with a throw of 131’ 4” (40.05 meters) and Sarah Dores (jr. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) was 27th (120’ 10”, 36.85 meters). Vanessa Wright (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) came in 18th (9:58.00) in the college women’s 3,000 meters championship. Searcy finished 38th (1:02.52) in the 400 meter hurdles championships.
Rowan will compete in the 4x200 meter relay heats on Friday, April 26 at 1:50 p.m. and in the 4x800 meter relay on Saturday, April 27 at 4:10 p.m.
