Women's Track And Field Finishes Fifth At Collegiate Track Conference Championships

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The Rowan University women’s track and field team finished fifth at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships.  The two-day meet consisted of 20 schools and was held at Georgian Court University. 

Christin Bettis (fr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:53.82.  Jessalynn Wright (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) came in second (2:21.06) in the 800 meters.  The 4x800 meter relay with Vanessa Valdes (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack), Alexus Streater (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Bettis and Wright finished second in 9:53.51. 

Jewel Brown (fr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) took third (1:00.03) in the 400 meters and fourth (26.57) in the 200 meters.  She also had a third place (36’ 11”, 11.25 meters) in the triple jump.  Emily Spieker (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished fifth (117’ 10.5”, 35.93 meters) in the discus.  

Valdes came in sixth (2:25.22) in the 800 meters.  In the 5000 meters, Priscila Antuna (jr. Waretown, NJ/Southern Reg.) finished sixth (19:52.34) followed by Brenda Mendez (so. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.), seventh (20:25.76) and Christina Ricci (fr. Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood), 10th (21:09.15).

Streater had a seventh place (5:13.64) in the 1500 meters.  Magan Kustera (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) tied for seventh in the high jump with a height of 4’ 11” (1.50 meters) and Kesley Lewis (fr. Belfore, NJ/Middletown N.) was eighth (4’ 11”, 1.50 meters).    

Francesca Contino (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) took ninth (17.57) in the 100 meter hurdles and 10th (1:15.75) in the 400 meter hurdles.  Tashay Wilson (so. Hillside, NJ/Hillside) finished 15th (28.71) in the 200 meters.  Steph Greco (sr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was 15th (90’ 10”, 27.70 meters) in the discus.
