KISSIMMEE, FL – The Rowan University softball team won two games at the Rebel Spring Games on Sunday. The Profs defeated Otterbein University (OH), 4-2 and Augsburg College (MN), 9-0 in five innings.

The softball team is 7-3 on the season.  Against Otterbein, right-hander LeAnne Miller (sr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) was the winning pitcher.  In six innings, she (4-2) scattered six hits and gave up one earned run.  Miller struck out four batters.  The losing pitcher was Natalie Zwicker in relief.  She allowed four hits and two earned runs in five innings.

First baseman Stephanie Labas (sr. Millville, NJ/Millville) was one for two with a two-run homer.  Right fielder Katie Bussman (so. Brick, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) contributed with one hit (four at bats) and one RBI.  Catcher Meagan Lee (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was one for three at the plate with a double, one RBI and one run scored. 

Pinch hitter Krysti Maronski (jr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/GCIT), third baseman Jess Phillips (so. Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and left fielder Jennifer Arcella (jr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) all added one hit.  Shortstop Shilah Snead (fr. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and pinch runner Christina Lee (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) both scored one run.

For the Cardinals, second baseman Maggie Zych went two for four with one run scored.  First baseman Bryn Allen registered two hits (three at bats) and scored one run.  Right fielder Kristen Ramer had one hit in three at bats and one RBI.

The Profs had a 2-0 lead after the first inning.  Snead led off with a walk.  Meagan Lee knocked in Snead with a double.  Bussman reached base on a fielder’s choice, scoring Meagan Lee.  Otterbein tied the score in the bottom of the sixth.  Third baseman Brooke Albright had a sacrifice fly that brought home Zych.  Allen scored on Ramer’s single.  Rowan won the game with Labas’ home run in the top of the seventh inning.  With one out, Meagan Lee walked and was replaced by Christina Lee.  Labas recorded her third homer on the season.

Maronski posted the win on the mound versus Augsburg.  She (2-1) only allowed one hit in three innings and had five strikeouts.  Left-hander Olivia Boerschinger took the loss.  She allowed seven hits and seven runs, five were earned.

Designated player Ashley DeYoung (fr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) led Rowan with three hits in three at bats and three RBIs.  Labas chipped in with two hits (three at bats), two RBIs and one run scored.  Meagan Lee went one for three with one RBI and one run scored. 
Snead produced one hit, one RBI and two scored runs.  Arcella tallied one hit (two at bats), one RBI and two runs scored.  Center fielder Shannon Costello (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was one for one at the plate and scored two runs.

On Tuesday, March 19, Rowan faces Springfield College (MA) at 9 a.m. and Utica College (NY) at 1 p.m.
