WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Rowan University women’s track and field team started the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open on Friday. The open includes schools from Division I, II and III and continues on Saturday at Wake Forest University.
Jessica Carlson (jr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) finished 13th in the triple jump with 35’ 8.75” (10.89 meters) and Jewel Brown (fr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) was 15th (35’ 7.25”, 10.85 meters). Carlson took 18th place (15.41) in the 100 meter hurdles prelims and Jamie Thompson (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was 19th (15.50).
In the 400 meters, Brianna Crofton (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) came in 18th (58.07) and Brown was 27th (59.65). Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp.) finished 24th (12.82) in the prelims of the 100 meters while Crofton and Joyce Perry (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) were 40th (13.02) and 43rd (13.06) respectively. Williams took 31st (59.85) in the 400 meters and Melirah Searcy (so. Edison, NJ/Edison) was 39th (1:00.23).
Kelsey Lewis (fr. Belford, NJ/Middletown N.) had a height of 4’ 10.25” (1.48 meters) in the high jump B section and tied for 10th. Sam Kamper (jr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) finished 14th (4’ 10.25”, 1.48 meters). Emily Spieker (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a 21st place (125’ 8”, 38.31 meters) in the hammer, Stephanie Greco (sr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) tied for 28th (115’ 3”, 35.14 meters) and Jess Lomonaco (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) was 30th (112’ 4”, 34.25 meters).
Perry and Francesca Contino (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) were 22nd (15.62) and 39th (18.12) respectively in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles. Onyi Obelle (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) finished 27th (19:15.08) in the 5000 meters while Priscila Antuna (jr. Waretown, NJ/Southern Reg.) and Brenda Mendez (so. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg). were 36th (19:35.61) and 41st (20:12.38) respectively. In the 1500 meters B section, Christina Ricci (fr. Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) was 35th (5:07.37) followed by Samantha Stapleton (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), 40th (5:09.38), Brianna Streater (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), 42nd (5:10.88) and Alexus Streater (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), 48th (5:18.45).
