NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University women’s indoor track team competed on the first of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships at the Armory.  The two-day championships continue on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Profs won the distance medley relay with a time of 12:00.74 with Melirah Searcy (so. Edison, NJ/Edison), Tashay Wilson (so. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), Jessalynn Wright (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Vanessa Wright (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.).  The 4x200 meter relay came in third (1:42.78).  Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp.), Shantel Beckford (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), Joyce Perry (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) and Jamie Thompson (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) were on the 4x200. 

Thompson finished second in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles in 8.92.  She advances to the final on Saturday at 10:40 a.m.  Jewel Brown (fr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) had a seventh place in the triple jump with 36’ 1.5” (11.01 meters). 

Beckford came in 13th (7.95) in the 60 meter dash while Williams was 24th (8.09).  Meaghan Borz (jr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) took 13th (18:28.99) in the 5000 meters.  Jessica Carlson (jr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was 10th in the triple jump (35’ 8”, 10.87 meters) and 14th (9.37) in the 60 meter hurdles prelims.
