NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University women’s indoor track team had nine student-athletes that competed at the Armory Collegiate Invitational on Friday. The two-day meet continues on Saturday and is being held at the Armory.
The distance medley relay of Melirah Searcy (so. Edison, NJ/Edison), Brianna Crofton (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Jessalynn Wright (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Vanessa Wright (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) captured 12th in 12:04.27.
Jamie Thompson (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) finished 29th (9.19) in the 60 meter hurdles heats and Jessica Carlson (jr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was 47th (9.52). Crofton took 43rd with a school record time of 57.99 in the heats of the 400 meters. The old mark was 58.62 by Tamara Jones (2009). Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp.) came in 77th (26.82) in the 200 meters heats. Jewel Brown (fr Clayton, NJ/Clayton) had a 62nd place (58.96) in the 400 meters heats.
The Armory Collegiate Invitational is 12 years old and includes more than 100 universities and colleges. In addition to some of the top NCAA Division I programs in the country, there are teams from Ireland, Puerto Rico, France and Canada.
