Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Kean University, 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Profs have won three straight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) games.
Forward Dayna Sakalsky (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) scored two goals while forwards Erika Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) and Tiffany Kelly (sr. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) each contributed with one goal and two assists. Midfielder Victoria Camera (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton W.) produced one goal and forward Jess Durnian (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) added an assist.
Rowan has a 15-2 record with a 7-1 conference mark. This week, the Profs are ranked fifth in the South Atlantic Region. The Cougars are 8-5-3 overall and 4-3-1 in the NJAC.
Forward Sam Marchetti (jr. Wall Twp., NJ/Wall) scored Kean's goal. Cougar goalie KC Nunez (so. Fair Lawn, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) stopped six shots. For the Profs, goalkeeper Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) made three saves.
Rowan was ahead 2-1 after the first half. Marchetti hit the Profs' net at 13:12 with a shot from 25 yards that went into the upper right corner. Sakalsky tied the score at 16:06 when she knocked in a rebound after Suhl's shot was saved by Nunez.
Sakalsky's second goal came at 62:48 on a pass through the box by Kelly. At 75:38, Kelly made the score 4-1. Her shot from 20 yards went in the upper left corner of the net. Durnian had the assist. Suhl ended the scoring at 77:25 with an assist from Kelly.
Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, October 30 at 5 p.m. It is the Profs' last game of the regular season.
