Women's Soccer Defeats Rutgers-Newark, 2-0

Box Score NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated conference opponent Rutgers-Newark, 2-0 on Saturday night.  The Profs have 11 shutouts on the season.

All of the scoring came in the first half.  Back Miranda Donnian (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) hit the left side of the net at 4:11 after a cross from the top of the 18 by forward Jess Durnian (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.).  Forward Erika Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) scored unassisted at 10:49.  She had a hard shot from 15 yards that went over goalkeeper Diana Aviles (fr. Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield).

Rowan has a 14-2 record with a 6-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference mark.  Rutgers-Newark drops to 5-10-1 overall and 1-5 in the conference.  Goalkeeper Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) stopped three shots for her sixth shutout.  Aviles ended the game with two saves.

Next week, Rowan hosts Kean University on Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m.
