Rowan Women's Indoor Track Takes Third At Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University women’s indoor track team took third place among 16 schools at the Collegeville Classic on Friday evening.  The meet was hosted by Ursinus College.

The Profs totaled 72 points.  Kutztown University finished first with 88 points, followed by East Stroudsburg University with 80.

Rowan won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:05.11.  The relay consisted of Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton), Melirah Searcy (so. Edison, NJ/Edison), Jewel Brown (fr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) and Brianna Crofton (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.).  The 4x200 meter relay of Chrnita Jackson, Kayla Leahey (jr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley), Carly Lebel (fr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) and Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) captured fourth (1:51.49).

Crofton and Searcy came in first (59.62) and second (1:00.47) respectively in the 400 meters.  Vanessa Wright (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) was the winner in the one mile with a time of 5:04.91.  She also had a fourth place (2:25.13) in the 800 meters.  Jamie Thompson (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) took second (9.14) in the 60 meter hurdles and sixth (16’ 3.25”, 4.96 meters) in the long jump. 

Lisa Jones (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) came in third (10:51.43) in the 3000 meters.  Brown finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 33’ 11.5” (10.35 meters).  In the 400 meters, Brown captured fifth (1:01.83) and Williams was 11th (1:02.82).  Joyce Perry (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) was ninth (9.80) in the 60 meter hurdles. 

In the 60 meter dash, Williams had a sixth place (8.18), followed by Crofton, 13th (8.25) and Tashay Wilson (so. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), 18th (8.38).  Lebel was 13th (15’ 2.75”, 4.64 meters) in the long jump.  Vanessa Valdes (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) took 18th (2:37.15) in the 800 meters.  Lebel came in 24th (30.16) in the 200 meters.

Rowan travels to the University of Delaware on Saturday, January 26 for the Thomson Invitational at 9:30 a.m.
