Richard Stockton Beats Rowan, 3-0 In NJAC Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Richard Stockton College women’s volleyball team had a 3-0 victory over Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night.  The set scores were 25-16, 25-19 and 25-20.

It was the conference opener for both teams.  The Ospreys improve to 5-1 overall, while the Profs have a 5-4 record.  Richard Stockton was led by opposite Nicole Serekian (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) with nine kills, 11 digs and two service aces.  Middle hitter Stephan Warner (sr. Totowa, NJ/Passaic Valley) totaled eight kills and seven blocks.  Outside hitter Ali Giordano (fr. Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) contributed with seven kills and seven digs.

Setter Shannon Clark (fr. Folsom, PA/Ridley) collected 18 assists and 11 digs.  Outside hitter Kasey Hennecke (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) had five kills and eight digs.  Middle hitter Macy Schwartz (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) and opposite Morgan Wikoff (fr. Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Reg.) added four and three blocks respectively.  Libero Ashley Gubista (so. Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) had a match-high 21 digs, while setter Mayan Alvarado (jr. Gainesville, FL/P.K. Yonge) chipped in with 10 assists.

For Rowan, outside hitter Katie Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) registered six kills and 10 digs.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Morgan Mende (fr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) posted six kills and three blocks.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Krissy Collins (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) had five kills, while middle blocker Nikki Binetti (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) compiled four kills and four blocks.  Setter Nicole Ciandella (jr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) accumulated 20 assists and 14 digs.  Defensive specialist Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) recorded 10 digs and libero Lauren Ruffalo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had eight.

Rowan travels to Stevenson, MD for a tri-match on Saturday, September 15.  The Profs face Stevenson University at 10 a.m. and Cazenovia College at noon.
