PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University women’s outdoor track and field team competed at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday.  The meet was held at Franklin Field.

Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.71.  Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took second in the hammer throw with a distance of 135’2” (41.20 meters).  Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) captured second place in the javelin (139’6”, 42.53 meters).

The 4x400 meter relay crossed the finish line in 3:54.03 for third place.  Rowan was fourth (9:30.87) in the 4x800 meter relay.  The 4x400 meter relay consisted of Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Searcy and Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.).  Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Searcy, Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) made up the 4x800 meter relay.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Chamberlain came in third (1:06.43) and Francesca Contino (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was 12th (1:11.95).  Chamberlain and Contino also placed fifth (15.50) and 11th (17.62) respectively in the 100 meter hurdles.  Jess Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) was third in the hammer throw with 129’1” (39.34 meters) and Steph Greco (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) followed fourth (122’6”, 37.35 meters).  Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 5’3” (1.60 meters), while Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) was eighth with 5’1” (1.55 meters).

In the discus, Tempeste Johnson (sr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) and Spieker took sixth (112’, 34.15 meters) and seventh (110’3”, 33.60 meters) respectively.  Lomonaco was eighth with 109’ 3” (33.31 meters) and Greco placed 10th with a distance of 89’ (27.14 meters).  Lomonaco came in seventh in the shot put with a toss of 35’3.25” (10.75 meters) and Arielle Moore (so. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) was eighth (31’8.75”, 9.67 meters).

Ashley White (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished sixth in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:06.78.  Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) captured eighth (11:11.69) and Catherine Nolan (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) was 15th (11:30.17).  In the 1500 meters, Hitchner placed ninth (4:53.21), Alexus Streater was 13th (5:00.40) and Samantha Stapleton (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) followed 21st (5:06.36).  Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) took 25th (5:18.20) and Eileen O’Mara (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) was 26th (5:19.56). 

Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) came in ninth (12.89) in the 100 meters and 19th (27.10) in the 200 meters.  Brianna Streater had a ninth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.97.  Wilson captured 11th (59.67) in the 400 meters.

The Profs host Georgian Court University for a dual meet on Thursday, April 12 at 4 p.m.  Rowan will compete at the Johns Hopkins Invitational in Baltimore, MD on Saturday, April 14.
