PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed in three relays at the Penn Relays on Thursday. In the individual events, Melissa Lake qualified for the javelin.
The 4x400 meter relay ran in the Collegiate Track Conference race. Rowan came in fourth with a time of 3:57.49 with Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) and Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.). Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took seventh out of 29 competitors. She had a toss of 136’ 11” (41.74 meters).
The distance medley relay had a 10th place in the college race. Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Wilson, Searcy and Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished with a school record time of 12:00.85. The old mark was 12:39.61 from 2011. The 4x100 meter relay ran 49.66 but was disqualified.
On Friday, Rowan will compete in the College Women’s Shuttle Hurdles Championship of America at 3:15 p.m.
