CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed at the Widener Invitational on Saturday.
Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:30.89. She also finished 11th (4:58.24) in the 1500 meters. Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) ran 57.84 in the 400 meters for second place. She came in third (1:04.30) in the 400 meter hurdles. Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) took second place (12.66) in the 100 meters and was seventh (26.67) in the 200 meters.
Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.) captured third (4:48.74) in the 1500 meters. She was 14th (2:20.82) in the 800 meters. Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) came in third (15.49) in the 100 meter hurdles while Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was fifth (15.67). Thompson had a fourth place in the long jump with 17’ 7” (5.36 meters). Sarah Dores (so. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) finished third in the javelin with a toss of 116’ 2” (35.42 meters).
Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took fourth (135’ 10”, 41.41 meters) in the hammer followed by Jess Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) fifth (133’ 8”, 40.74 meters) and Steph Greco (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) sixth (128’ 1”, 39.05 meters). Spieker’s throw was a career best. Lomonaco came in eighth (35’ 0.25”, 10.67 meters) in the shot put. In the high jump, Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) and Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) were fifth (5’ 1”, 1.55 meters) and eighth (5’ 1”, 1.55 meters) respectively.
Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) finished 11th (2:19.21) in the 800 meters and Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was 13th (4:59.89) in the 1500 meters. Francesca Contino (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) came in 10th (17.21) in the 100 meter hurdles and 11th (1:12.12) in the 400 meter hurdles. Christina Huynh (jr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) had a 10th place (1:02.05) in the 400 meters.
Next week, Rowan has student-athletes that qualified for the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 26. The Profs will also travel to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, April 28 for the Lions’ Invitational.
