Georgian Court Wins 106-93 Over Rowan In Dual Meet

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Georgian Court University women’s track and field team defeated Rowan University, 106-93 in a dual meet on Thursday evening.

The Lions won the 4x100 meter relay (48.64) with Lauren Calorel (jr. Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.), Susan Lora (so. Stratford, CT/Frank S. Bunnell), Brianna Crofton (fr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Sami Osadacz (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.).  The winning 4x400 meter relay (3:55.19) included Cassy Lenkowski (so. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Chanel Rogers (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.), Justine Elardo (jr. Forked River, NJ/Lacey Twp.) and Crofton. 

Lora came in first in the 100 (12.53) and 200 (25.75) meter dash.  Crofton ran a winning time of 58.08 in the 400 meters.  In the 100 meter hurdles, Rogers and Elardo finished first (14.56) and second (14.67) respectively.  Rogers also had a second place (1:03.99) in the 400 meter hurdles.

In the field events, Georgian Court’s Mary Sancilio (jr. Perrineville, NJ/Allentown) won the high jump with 5’ 3.75” (1.62 meters).  Catherine Hanson (fr. Port Monmouth, NJ/St. John Vianney) was the winner in the pole vault with a height of 8” 11.75” (2.74 meters).  Osadacz had a leap of 17’ 8.25” (5.39 meters) in the long jump for first place. 

In the shot put, Alyssa Hudgins (jr. Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) took first place (41’ 5”, 12.62 meters) followed by Shelby Frink (fr. Baltimore, MD/Woodlawn) and ChiChi Ozuzu (so. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) who were second (40’ 1.25”, 12.22 meters) and third (36’ 6.75”, 11.14 meters) respectively.  Hudgins also won the discus (135’ 6”, 41.30 meters) and hammer (156’ 9”, 47.78 meters).   

The Profs took first place in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:49.30.  The relay consisted of Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.), Christina Huynh (jr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany), Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy).  In the 800 meters, Hitchner was the winner in 2:22.38 while Peacock and Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were second (2:23.73) and third (2:24.29) respectively.  Peacock won the 1500 meters (4:46.02) followed by Hitchner second (4:49.62), Rawls third (4:55.98) and Streater fourth (5:04.25).     

Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) ran a winning time of 10:39.60 in the 3000 meters.  Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) took second place (10:53.40) while Grace Kaler (so. Parisppany, NJ/Parisppany) was third (11:05.10), Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) fourth (11:09.00) and Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) fifth (11:10.10). 

Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) won the 400 meter hurdles with a season best of 1:03.02.  She was also third (14.75) in the 100 meter hurdles with a top time.  Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) came in first in the triple jump.  She leaped 35’ 7.75” (10.86 meters), which was a season best.  Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) won the javelin with 144’ 5” (44.03 meters).  Her throw is currently second in the NCAA Division III. 

Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) finished second (12.75) in the 100 meter dash.  Beckford came in third in the triple jump with 34’ 7” (10.54 meters).  Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) had a second place and a season best (58.80) in the 400 meters.  She took third (1:04.83) in the 400 meter hurdles.  Kayla Leahey (so. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley) was second in the pole vault with 8’ 11.75 (2.74 meters) and Ana Kolbach (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) was third (8’ 6”, 2.59 meters).  Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished third in the high jump (4’ 11.75”, 1.52 meters). 

Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) had a second place in the long jump with 17’ 1.75” (5.23 meters).  Jessica Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) came in second in the discus (123’ 5”, 37.62 meters), third in the hammer (131’ 7”, 40.11 meters) and fourth in the shot put (36’ 3.5”, 11.06 meters).  Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished second in the hammer with 134’ (40.85 meters).  Sarah Dores (so. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) took third place (115’ 5.5”, 35.19 meters) in the javelin.
