CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed at the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The invitational was held at Widener University.
The Profs won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:01.21. The 4x400 consisted of Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) and Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown). The 4x100 meter relay took fourth place (50.30) with Wilson, Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick), Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.).
Beckford ran a winning time of 12.77 in the 100 meters. She was also seventh (27.48) in the 200 meters. Tiffany Chamberlain (jr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) captured first (1:04.32) in the 400 meter hurdles. Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) came in first (11:27.75) in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Searcy finished third (1:05.09) in the 400 meter hurdles. She came in fourth (59.50) in the 400 meters and Wilson followed sixth (1:00.10). Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) tied for third in the high jump with 5’ 1” (1.55 meters). Carlson took fifth (15.81) in the 100 meter hurdles and Thompson was 11th (16.65). Thompson also had a ninth place (1:07.88) in the 400 meter hurdles.
Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished second (132’ 3”, 40.31 meters) in the hammer throw and was fifth (111’ 2”, 33.88 meters) in the discus. Melissa Lake (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) threw the javelin 127’ 9” (38.93 meters) for third place. In the hammer throw, Jessica Lomonaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) took fourth (127’, 38.72 meters) and Steph Greco (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) was eighth (116’ 8”, 35.56 meters).
In the discus, Lomonaco and Tempeste Johnson (sr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) were sixth (110’ 10”, 33.78 meters) and ninth (108’ 3”, 33.00 meters) respectively. Lomonaco also finished 10th (33’ 3.25”, 10.14 meters) in the shot put. Sarah Dores (so. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) had an eighth place in the javelin with 113’ 3” (34.53 meters). Ashlee Hitchner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Reg.) came in ninth in the 800 meters (2:20.62) and 13th (4:50.67) in the 1500 meters.
In the 5000 meters, Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) finished 11th (19:03.91) while Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford), Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) were 13th (19:31.76), 14th (19:37.49) and 15th (19:44.66) respectively. Alexus Streater took 14th place (2:23.03) in the 800 meters and Samanta Stapleton (so. Williamstown, NJ/Wiliamstown) was 16th (2:24.38). Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) tied for 14th in the high jump with 4’ 9” (1.45 meters).
